«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 341 Newer› Newest»My boys aren't quite in school yet but I would try to get them excited about it by letting them help me pick out their school supplies, visiting the school, talking about all the things they will learn and the kids they will meet, etc.
I'm following you!
I put little notes in the lunch bags.
I subscribe in RSS

I make back to school fun for my children by making them little sandwiches with assorted cookie cutter shapes to take in their luchboxes, and in each lunchbox I tape a little note on paper or napkin telling them how much I love and miss them, and I will see them soon! They love that, and the other kids in their class sometimes get envious!

We homeschool,so they get excited to "start school" again:)But all I have to do is print out their worksheets, and they are raring to go!We do mostly printouts with some book work mixed in,so when they see the printer go on and no coupons coming out, they are thrilled.

We homeschool our three kids, so there is no back-to-school moment for them. But we we do tend to have more fun at this time of year, because the parks are less crowded, and the weather is starting to cool a little bit.

I make smiley face sandwiches for lunch boxes: Make a cheese sandwich with two slices of whole wheat bread, and then cut it into a round shape with a large cookie cutter. Press into the sandwich the shapes of eyes, nose and mouth, and fill them in with spray cheese.

Going back to school can be exciting as well as scary..But the boys know when they get in from school they can relax for a bit of cookies and milk.Setting at the table, dipping away and discussing what happened at school that day!Good way to keep communication open and i hope this is something that carries on for years to come ~

Normally going back to school is a big to-do in our house. This year I was on crutches after foot surgery so, sadly, it was much more low-key. Usually we get excited with school supplies shopping and picking out their favorite backpack & lunchbox. We visit the school and look around. We usually go out and buy the perfect first day of school outfit. Then, on the big day I usually get up and make them a big yummy hot breakfast, fix their lunches and send them off for a great first day. Then I usually have a special snack and make their favorite dinner. I sure missed that this year!

We spend the week before doing a whirlwind of summer activities and then recover the weekend before school. Once the girls are in school I leave little decorated notes in their lunch box. Mostly embarrassing stuff like I love them and am so excited for them to learn new things in the new year - but it's fun - at least for me!
I tell my kids that if they behave in school the first week, I will treat them to ice-cream after school on Friday.

My four year old loves school (thankfully) so I don't really have to do anything to make it more fun. I do make a big deal of how its a "big boy" thing to do - he eats that up! And I let him choose his breakfasts before school (within reason - I nixed the peanut butter and chocolate sandwich that his dad taught him about).
